Karen Vaughan is an author based in Peterborough, Ontario, where she lives with her husband, Jim, and their cat, JJ. Her writing career began in 2005 while she was on medical leave. During this time, she wrote her first novel, Dead on Arrival, which introduced her recurring protagonist, Laura.
Vaughan has since expanded her body of work to include several standalone titles, such as Dead Comic Standing, and a series featuring characters Laura and Gerry. That series currently consists of seven installments, the most recent being Dead to Writes. Her work primarily spans the cozy mystery and comedy genres.
Beyond writing, Vaughan is involved in several community and professional activities:
Broadcasting: She hosts the Writers Round Table, a monthly online radio show.
Author Promotion: Alongside Viv Drewa, she co-operates Owl & Pussycat Promotions, an initiative that supports independent authors.
Performance: She performs stand-up comedy at local talent events.
